Persons who are brought by others

These persons, who are brought by their relatives / well-wishers, are

  • A) Non-earning dependent individuals:
    • small children (age 3-8)
    • older children (age 8-12)
    • adolescents (13-18/20)
    • old people (>66)
  • B) Anybody who is emotionally dependent

These persons behave in a different way than self-motivated persons. Mostly, their relatives talk/describe symptoms on their behalf, either in front of them or behind their back.

If at all these persons speak, they look at accompanying person / s to support them.
A few of them may not talk at all.
They say that they are being brought against their wishes.
Their relatives may mislead them about where they are going, why they are going.
They may talk in a round about way or may open out with other ways (like dream work, play therapy).
Significant family members may or may not agree to come for family therapy.

Some may be dysfunctional and have to be referred to a professional psychiatrist.
