Online therapy for skinpicking
Compulsive Skin Picking (CSP) is a psychosomatic illness. The persons pick or scratch their skin, lips, nails, scalp etc. They cannot stop themselves while picking.
Their uncontrollable picking injures the concerned body parts. Injury leaves behind scars, pigmentation. Applying band-aids, bandages, lotions, wearing socks become part of everyday life.
An apparently harmless habit gives rise to obsessive compulsive behavior. Persons under stress pick and picking produces guilt and shame..which in turn produces stress...thus the vicious cycle is set up. Person suffering from CSP tends to be secretive and shies away from admitting the reality to self and others. Thus, they are not easy for undergoing therapy.
I have been working as online psychotherapist for the patients of skinpicking since 2007. I have a privilege of working with unseen unknown persons from US, UK, Canada, Australia.
This series of articles were published based on my experience with 60 such individuals.
Among these individuals women were in more number than men.
They worked from a range of few weeks to one and half year.
I used email as well as text chat with them.
Few ex-clients are still in contact with me.
Its an amazing journey with these highly shy and secretive persons.

I read them with interest for both their content and also a way to appropriately get to know a bit about you and your philosophy.

Good articles...clearly states each process and how it works and what to expect.
I think this will help people be more willing to start therapy because it answers most questions one may have and uses examples of other clients so they feel more at ease when reading about therapy.
